God Desires Truth

Exodus 23:2-3 says,

‘“Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,  and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.’

I think this is a very interesting passage.  It seems that God wants us to be just in whatever we do – we should not give in to peer pressure, either in supporting the powerful, or in supporting the weak.  Our culture today clearly leans toward favoring the oppressed in some situations, and the oppressors in others.  Just look at our current legal system in America, and tell me if you think it is always fair, impartial, and consistent to the law.

But God is interested in truth.  I find this to be very desirable, because everything is measured against one standard – not something which varies from day to day.  He is the perfect umpire – and instant replay is not necessary.
