Justice for Judah

20111210-091503.jpgFor over fifty chapters the book of Jeremiah has been pointing to the captivity of Judah at the hands of the king of Babylon. I have found it to be a long book, and somewhat depressing, since it speaks of the bondage of God’s chosen people. But, as things go when the Lord is involved, there is justice in the end.

“Therefore, this is what the LORD says: “See, I will defend your cause and avenge you; I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry. Babylon will be a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals, an object of horror and scorn, a place where no one lives.”Jeremiah 51:36-37

When all is said and done, the oppressors of God’s people will eventually be destroyed and their land will be laid waste. God is just, and He is good – then and now.

Thus ends the prophecy of Jeremiah.
