Three Days

Here is an unusual thing that I noticed for the first time today.  In reading of Israel’s restoration to the Lord, we find:

“Come, let us return to the LORD.  He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.  After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.”  — Hosea 6:1-2

I am curious about the reference to being revived on the third day – is this a foreshadowing of the revival in the the tomb of Jesus Christ, and the restoration that occurred for all who believe afterward?  Does God hide these things in scripture for us to discover and later marvel in wonder at His coordinated plan?

Or is it something else?
