A Father’s Love

Our God is a personal God.  He is intimately involved in the lives of each of His followers – to the point that He delights in even the smallest of things.  This is made clear in today’s verse.

“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”  — Zephaniah 3:17

I like the contrast – while God is “mighty to save”, He is also intimately involved in the small things in our lives.  I liken this to the love of an earthly father, who rejoices in both the great things AND the small things in his children’s lives.  That takes a special, personal kind of involvement – not one of necessity, but one of true love.  Our God has that same feeling for His people.
