Be Still

What would you do if you felt God suddenly moving in a strong way in your life?  What would you do if He appeared before you with a message?

“Be still before the Lord, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.”  Zechariah 2:13

When God moves, it seems best to simply be silent and still before Him and let Him take charge.  For me, that is a hard lesson, because I tend to be a person of action.  If a problem presents itself, my inclination is to start doing something, in an effort to be busy and productive.  But to be truthful, God doesn’t need my actions or efforts to complete His tasks.  He may ask me to do something, and I may be called upon to take some specific action, but isn’t it true that God has the power to achieve His purpose all on His own?  This verse is reminiscent of the words in Psalm 46:10“Be still and know that I am God.”
