Marriage and Blessing

Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.‘ — Malachi 2:13-14

Here is an interesting explanation for why we may feel that the Lord is abandoning our society. In an era of spiraling divorce rates, is it a coincidence that we also see a rise in corruption, drug use, broken families, and looser morals?

Perhaps the single, best thing we can do to counter this moral slide is to first pay attention to our own marriages. I can say from providential, personal experience that a strong marriage gives peace and prosperity in my home. It is no accident that the Lord sees these two things as interrelated – marriage and blessing.
