With Uplifted Head

“Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty—he is the King of glory.”Psalm 24:7-10
These words are from one of my favorite worship songs from Chris Tomlin – “King of Glory”.
These words are helpful for a person to remember when approaching worship time. We are reminded that our Lord is not just any king, he is the King of glory. And while we usually think of approaching God with humility and awe and a bowed head, these verses tell us that we can approach Him also with an uplifted head, to behold His glory and power. This is a different approach than I am used to, but it bears some thought.
