“Awesome Deeds of Righteouness”

“You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.”Psalm 65:5-7

What can the Lord do for us? The answer is that He can do anything we can imagine. His power and mercy are unlimited. But His deeds always take the form of goodness – specifically, “awesome deeds of righteousness”. There is little doubt that God can work in small ways in our life, but these verses remind us that He can also work in mighty ways. God likes to be involved in big things.

I noticed particularly the part that mentions how the Lord can still “the turmoil of the nations”. This seems especially applicable to our state of current events – nations all over the world are experiencing upheavals and internal strife. If these nations would but turn to God for direction, He has the ability the bring things to a peaceful state. Yet, it is precisely because they do not honor or seek Him that they continue to experience upheaval, injustice, and death. Simply put, the answer to fixing a state of turmoil lies with putting your trust in the Lord – even at a nation-state level.
